The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Yushau Ahmed, has urged corps members to be productive and resilient in their service to Sokoto State and the nation.
Ahmed made the call at the closing ceremony of 2023 Batch A stream 2 corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wamakko Local Government, Sokoto State.
Ahmed, who was represented by Mr Usman Yakubu-Yaro, the NYSC State Coordinator, urged corps members to replicate the discipline demonstrated during the orientation at their respective places of primary assignments.
He also informed the corps members that their service year was of great significance to the nation and urged them to advance the cause of unity and development of their fatherland.
He also urged them to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hardwork and diligence in the community they were posted, to add value to the lives of its members.
Ahmed implored them to respect the customs and cultures of their host communities, to avoid conflicts.
He said that they would be remembered in future through the community development projects they executed which had direct bearing on people of the communities they were posted and served.
He advised them to be security conscious, stressing that they must abstain from unauthorised journey, staying late at night and other behaviours.
The coordinator assured them that the management would do everything at its reach to protect the corps members.
A total number 1,443 corps members comprising 748 males and 695 females have successfully completed the 3-week orientation camp.
