
Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, have staged a special appreciation rally in honour of the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.
The rally, which took place at the premises of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, BSES in Ilokun, Ado-Ekiti, was to express gratitude for the Governor’s landmark achievement in connecting the state-owned media outfit to the National Grid and the Independent Power Plant, IPP.
The Chairman of the Council, Mr Kayode Babatuyi said that the development marks a significant milestone for the station which had endured decades of dependency on diesel-powered generators, grappling with challenges of high costs and limited operational efficiency.
He said the intervention would help transform the station’s operations, and as well enable it deliver better services to the people of the State.
in his remarks the Chairman of NUJ, BSES Chapel, Mr Kelechi David commended Governor Oyebanji for his visionary leadership and commitment to advancing media and communication in the state.
He noted that the Governor’s initiative would enhance the performance of BSES, ensure uninterrupted power supply and increasing productivity in the station’s operations.
Governor Oyebanji, who graced the rally expressed gratitude to the NUJ for the recognition and support.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering development in all sectors, including media, which he described as a critical tool for societal growth and accountability.
