The Director of Finance, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin, Alhaji Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has dismissed the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), stating that the group lacks the political influence to hinder President Bola Tinubu’s chances of securing massive support in northern Nigeria in the 2027 elections.
Backing APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s stance that the North should wait until 2031 to reclaim power, Kwankwaso insisted that ACF does not represent the region’s political interests.
“Most of you in this forum held power for decades, yet what did you do for the North? Nothing. You served only your personal interests,” Kwankwaso said.
Taking a swipe at individual ACF members, he challenged former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung, Najaatu Muhammad, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, questioning their contributions to the region.
He further argued that Tinubu’s administration has already done more for the North in a few months than many past leaders. Highlighting key projects, he pointed to the establishment of the Northwest Development Commission, the allocation of over N600 billion for the region, and the approval of N150 billion for Kano’s Metro Rail project.
Kwankwaso praised Ganduje’s leadership of the APC, citing the defection of top politicians from opposition parties and the party’s stronghold in recent elections.
“With the growing support for Tinubu and the APC, Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya movement are realizing they have no solid political base left,” he added.
