No Plan To Join ADC, Oyebanji Tells Mischief Makers

According to a statement signed by Mr Yinka Oyebode, Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, the report was described as a deliberate fabrication by desperate politicians aiming to cause disaffection within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and create unnecessary tension in the polity.

The statement said there was no truth in the claim that the former Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, was leading a movement of top APC leaders including Governor Oyebanji to join the ADC. It noted that Dr Fayemi recently attended an APC caucus meeting in Iyin-Ekiti where President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji were both endorsed for second terms.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the public office holders mentioned in the report remain firmly rooted in the APC and have no link, nor any plan whatsoever, to join the ADC,” it stated.

The statement noted that Governor Oyebanji has been a consistent member of the progressive political family since 1999 and has never defected from the fold.

It further alleged that the false report was a failed attempt to use Oyebanji’s cordial relationship with Dr Fayemi to drive a wedge between the Governor and President Tinubu.

“These jesters are wasting their time. Mr President is a strategic leader who understands the political terrain and can see through such antics and hidden agenda,” it added.

The government urged the people of Ekiti to disregard the “childish media attack,” describing it as an unintelligent distraction ahead of the 2026 governorship primaries.

“Now that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the timetable for the primaries, we expectJuly 7, 2025 these desperate politicians to boldly present themselves to the electorate rather than hiding behind lies and social media propaganda,” the statement concluded.
