No Better Alternative To Dapo Abiodun, Deputy –  Diasporans

By Ralph Oluwatoyin.

A group, Ogun State Diasporans, said there is no better alternative than the incumbent governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele for the governorship election in the state, on March 11.

Stating this was the Coordinator of the group, Engr. Oluyemi Oyedele, at a news conference in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Wednesday, that the duo are the best team for the job, considering their achievements since they assumed the positions.

Oyedele, said the group over years had been endorsing its preferred candidates online and in the media, but decided to campaign and endorsed Abiodun and Salako-Oyedele for the effort in making the state, an envy of other states.

The coordinator noted that Abiodun’s administration had recorded successes through massive infrastructural development; job creation, youth empowerment among others.

Oyedele flanked by other members from Europe, United States of America and some other African countries, expressed the readiness of the group to partner with the state government under Abiodun by engaging in developmental projects.

He explained that Ogun State Diasporans, had recently facilitated a N16.5 million project sponsored by David Alaba, a footballer with Real Madrid FC.

“We from the diaspora are willing to partner with the state government in their efforts to make our dearest state Second to none. Ogun State has the largest number of Nigerian professionals abroad. The Diasporans are prepared to bring more investors on board. We are also ready to invest in the state. Above all, we are prepared to engage in developmental projects,” he added.

He hinted that the group had been contributing to the development of commerce in the state through the “Adire Carnival” ,described as one of the biggest Yoruba Cultural event outside the shores of Nigeria.

“We are not expecting any reward from this project, it is not an exchange programme. We are over thousands as far as membership is concerned. We have been investing in this project since we believe in it, said Oyedele.

Another member of the group, Chief Daniel Dada, said indigenes of the state in the diaspora are convinced that Abiodun would performed more in the state, if given another opportunity to administer the state.

In his remarks, Ayo Somide, Deputy Administration Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, appreciated the group for endorsing Abiodun and his deputy.
