The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has purchased 500 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks as part of its transition to cleaner energy.
The state-owned oil firm has also commissioned six CNG stations in Lagos and Abuja, with plans for further expansion.
Mrs. Henrietta Ogun of NNPC Retail Operations disclosed this during a workshop with selected Kannywood artistes in Abuja. She noted that most of the newly acquired CNG trucks have already arrived in the country and will be deployed this year.
Additionally, NNPCL has set up eight Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points for bikes, with plans to introduce charging stations for cars in the future. The company is also preparing to launch its branded gas cylinders in the market.
Ogun further revealed that NNPCL operates floating mega stations in riverine areas, real-time truck tracking services, and will soon introduce a retail app. The app will enable customers to locate filling stations, check fuel availability, place orders, and make payments.
