NMDPRA Warns Nigerians Against Fake Recruitment Scam

The authority described the reports as false and the handiwork of fraudsters and fake recruitment syndicates attempting to defraud unsuspecting job seekers.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, NMDPRA said it was forced to issue the clarification following reports that criminals were exploiting economically vulnerable Nigerians with fake employment offers.

According to the agency, the fraudsters issue bogus appointment letters, advertise non-existent vacancies and demand large sums of money from applicants under false promises of employment.

The authority stressed that no recruitment exercise is ongoing and that it is not employing staff at any level.

“We wish to state categorically that the NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently,” the statement read. “Neither is the agency undertaking any kind of employment in its services at any level.”

NMDPRA noted that whenever recruitment becomes necessary, it will be carried out strictly in line with the rules and regulations guiding employment in the Nigerian Public Service.

The agency urged Nigerians to disregard all fake recruitment advertisements and verify information only through its official channels.

It directed the public to its official website and verified social media platforms for accurate and up-to-date information.

“For current and up-to-date information regarding all our activities, kindly refer to our official corporate website: www.nmdpra.gov.ng and our verified social media outlets on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram,” the statement added.

NMDPRA also warned that such fraudulent activities not only defraud citizens but also tarnish the image of the agency, calling on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment claims.
