Negative Report On EKSUTH, Mere Fabrications — CMD

The CMD, in a statement  made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti  said the allegations contained in the report which was first published  by an  online platform and later by a Print were laced with falsehoods and outright misrepresentations of facts .

Professor Olabanji expressed sadness that the said publications were not only full of errors and  misconceived pictures, which suggested the job of a paid hatchet of an unprofessional journalist.

While threatening to take  legal action against the media outlet and its agents, the CMD disclosed that “the mood in the Hospital is totally different from what has been painted. The staff are full of appreciation to His Excellency the Governor of Ekiti State.

The letter reads: “I am constrained to write this letter to you concerning a news item published first online, and then in prints, Dec 15, 2023 -Jan.15, 2024, titled ‘EKSUTH: A Teaching Hospital In Distress -Inside Story ‘The story was heavily prejudiced, laced with falsification and twisted information.

“Moreover, the print was full of errors and misrepresentations. In spite of honest, verifiable explanations, the writer went ahead to paint his misconceived pictures, which one can only interpret as the job of a paid hatchet man. Some of the allegations are libelous.

“The mood in the Hospital is totally different from what has been painted. The staff are full of appreciation for His Excellency the Governor, who has been attending to all issues raised with him. However the write-up has painted the Government in bad light, which didn’t reflect the love and respect that the staff have for the Governor.

“As an illustration that the whole article was purposely to misinform and distort issues to achieve a set objective, kindly consider the statement below, Page 5: “The mortuary is in such a sorry sight that I think the government should take a critical look at EKSUTH now and save the people from avoidable deaths”.

Sir, how can mortuary where dead bodies are kept cause the death of the corpses being put there? What concerns mortuary with avoidable deaths? Patients have no business with, and do not visit mortuary, which only goes to illustrate the depth of bias in the story, or a crass ignorance. The institution may also seek other lawful ways of seeking redress against him and his newspaper.”
