The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced the blacklisting of veteran Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, from flying within Nigeria for six months following a recent incident at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The agency said the decision was part of efforts to uphold aviation safety and discipline in the sector.
Passenger Misconduct Won’t Be Tolerated – NCAA
Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Mr. Michael Achimugu, disclosed the sanction on Thursday at a press briefing.
“As we speak, the passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months flying in Nigeria,” Achimugu said.
He stressed that no individual, regardless of status or popularity, would be allowed to compromise aviation rules and safety procedures.
Legal Action Underway
Achimugu further stated that the NCAA was writing formally to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to initiate legal proceedings against the musician.
“What I must assure the general public is that everybody involved in this will be brought to book,” he added.
Rule of Law Will Prevail – NCAA
When asked whether Ayinde’s close relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would influence the case, Achimugu firmly ruled out any interference.
He noted that both the President and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, were committed to the rule of law and discipline in the aviation sector.
“Aviation rules are global and made for the safety of all. So, we will do everything we can to get to the root of it. Everybody who needs to be punished or sanctioned will receive justice,” he said.
Background
The disciplinary action follows a recent viral video showing the musician allegedly engaging in disruptive behaviour that endangered flight and ground operations, prompting earlier sanctions on two ValueJet pilots involved in the incident.
