Factional President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, has withdrawn his earlier allegations against Mr. Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, admitting the claims were false.
Atiku had, in a viral video, accused Seyi Tinubu and the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Ayodele Olawande, of inviting him to Lagos and offering him ₦100 million to support President Tinubu. He also claimed that his refusal led to his alleged abduction on April 15, 2025.
However, in a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, Atiku reversed his position and publicly apologised to Seyi Tinubu, stating that the entire allegation was based on misinformation.
According to him, one Ladoja Olusola misled him with falsehoods aimed at removing him from office and seizing control of the student body.
“It has become imperative to note that the offer of ₦100,000,000 alleged to have been made to me to support President Tinubu was clearly untrue,” he wrote. “Ladoja Olusola, who was desperate to remove me from my duly elected position as NANS President, fed me lies and half-truths to push his selfish ambition.”
Atiku further claimed that Olusola planted fear in him by saying Mr. Seyi Tinubu could order his assassination and manipulate law enforcement to cover it up.
He also withdrew an earlier claim that Seyi Tinubu had led thugs to disrupt his inauguration, clarifying that Seyi was never present at the venue.
The statement marks a significant turnaround in a saga that has stirred controversy within student leadership circles and drawn national attention.
