Two hundred members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ifeloju Local Council Development Area, LCDA, in Ekiti State, have pitched tent with the ruling All Progressives Party, APC,in the area.
Their defection took place at a campaign rally at Ilupeju-Ekiti, the headquarters of the council, where the campaign train of the in-coming Chairman of the Council, Hon. Sola Michael Oniyelu, stopped to address the electorate for the council election billed for Saturday, December 2, 2023 across Ekiti State.
The defectors said their decision was informed by the need to be in the bandwagon of a moving train which the ruling party personifies in every ramification. And by extension, the leadership style and achievem
ents of the outgoing chairman of the council, Comrade Babatunde Ogunmilugba have convinced them that they are in a better stead to be in the scheme of things as far as grassroots governance is concerned.
The campaign was led by the chairmanship contestants for Ifeloju LCDA, Hon. Sola Michael Oniyelu, Chief(Mrs) Adeola Bamisile,Oye local government and Hon.Ajibola Muyiwa Olabode, Ifesowapo LCDA. The train traversed Ayegbaju-Ekiti, Oye-Itaji-Ayede-Isan-Omuo-Ijelu,Osin-Ire-Ekiti, and ended at Ilupeju-Ekiti, where the climax of the campaign took place
The Chairman of the APC in Oye local government,Chief Ogunsakin Samuel Oloye, led the pack of other party leaders in the area to market the chairmanship candidates and their vice chairmen.
Party chieftains, Chief Ajeigbe and Chief(Mrs)Florence Fabiyi pledged their support and loyalty to Hon.Oniyelu with a view to engendering good leadership and governance.
Responding, the ifeloju LCDA chairmanship candidate,Hon. Sola Michael Oniyelu promised the party’s leadership, the electorate and other stakeholders good leadership embedded in transparency,accountability and probity in consonance with the Six-point agenda of governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.
