Mohbad’s Father Demands Prosecution of Wife, Others Indicted in Coroner’s Inquest

Aloba made the demand in a letter written by his counsel, Wahab Shittu, SAN, and addressed to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN.

He urged the government to file criminal charges against the auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who administered an injection to Mohbad shortly before his death, and others who were present in the apartment at the time of the incident.

The lawyer maintained that those who facilitated the invitation of the auxiliary nurse or failed to take the late singer to a recognised medical facility for treatment should also face prosecution.

In July 2025, the Coroner, Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi, held that the actions of the auxiliary nurse were both unlawful and professionally negligent. The inquest recommended her prosecution for medical misadventure and faulted Mohbad’s wife for opting for home treatment instead of taking him to a hospital.

Despite the findings and recommendations, the state government has yet to file charges against those indicted—more than two months after the verdict.

Aloba’s lawyer, Shittu, expressed concern over what he described as official silence from the authorities, despite the case’s high public sensitivity and judicial clarity.

He urged the Attorney-General to initiate prosecution within 14 days or, alternatively, grant a fiat empowering the family’s legal team to prosecute the matter on behalf of the State under the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State.

Shittu said, “Our client, as a bereaved father who seeks justice, is deeply troubled by the fact that, despite the clear indictments contained in the Coroner’s verdict, no prosecutorial steps have been taken against the mentioned individuals since July 11, 2025.”
