Police in Niger State have arrested a young man, Tanko Sule, in Tunga Wawa community, Kontagora, for allegedly killing another youth, Nasiru Amadu, during a dispute over a girl.
Residents said Sule and his friends stormed Amadu’s house on Friday night and beat him severely, leaving him unconscious. Amadu’s mother later found him in a critical condition, bleeding from the mouth, and neighbours rushed him first to a local chemist before transferring him to Kawon Kontagora Hospital.
He died around 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Before his death, Amadu reportedly identified Sule as his attacker, telling neighbours that Sule had been harassing him for proposing to the girl they were both interested in.
Police confirmed Sule’s arrest, adding that investigations were ongoing.
