The Osun local government election on Saturday saw a poor voter turnout, with many polling units deserted and lacking electoral officials.
In Osogbo and Ile-Ife, several polling units had no OSSIEC staff, security personnel, or voter lists displayed. However, voting took place in a few locations, notably in the governor’s hometown, Ede, where some electorate participated.
Despite a government-imposed restriction on movement, vehicles moved freely across the state, though police set up roadblocks.
Speaker Adewale Egbedun, after voting, praised the peaceful conduct of the election and assured that the results would reflect the people’s will.
