The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has asked residents and media houses to use its official channels to confirm incidents before circulation, in a push to curb misinformation and strengthen public trust.

General Manager of LASTMA said the Authority remains “transparent, accessible and responsive” and called on media organisations to prioritize rigorous fact-checking and due diligence prior to publication.
The appeal aims to prevent misleading reports and protect the integrity of public communication.
To make verification easier, LASTMA reaffirmed two direct public access points: a toll-free hotline — 080000527862 — and a dedicated Physical Complaints Unit where residents can lodge complaints, seek clarification, and verify incidents.
The Authority also urged media stakeholders to uphold accuracy, balance, and responsibility in reportage, noting that sustained engagement through its official channels is available for prompt clarification.
