The leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly remains unresolved following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on January 13, 2025.
Some lawmakers have traveled to Abuja to meet with President Bola Tinubu over the ongoing dispute.
Meanwhile, on Monday, February 3, members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and the Assembly met at Lagos House, Marina, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat, and GAC leader Tajudeen Olusi in attendance.
While the agenda was not made public, discussions likely included issues surrounding Obasa’s removal.
Obasa’s ousting by 32 lawmakers has sparked political tensions. On January 30, the Department of State Services (DSS) intervened following a petition allegedly filed by Obasa, claiming his removal was politically motivated and linked to misconduct, abuse of office, and financial mismanagement.
Lawmakers were questioned for six hours before being released.
The crisis continues to stir controversy in the state’s political landscape.
