Kukah Endorses FG’s Tax Reforms, Advocates Transparency, Strategic Communication

Speaking during a televised interview, Kukah emphasized that the proposed legislation, if effectively implemented, has the potential to address financial mismanagement and promote fiscal discipline among the nation’s political elite.

“This reform provides an opportunity to confront and end the financial recklessness that has plagued our nation.

“It is ironic that Nigerians, despite living in a resource-rich country, remain mere spectators to the irresponsibility of the elite who mismanage our resources. I am hopeful that these reforms mark the beginning of a journey toward fiscal efficiency and the development of the country we envision,” Kukah said.

He highlighted the critical need for better fiscal management, describing the reforms as a pathway to sustainable national growth.

However, he stressed the importance of effective communication by the Bola Tinubu administration to gain public trust and ensure the reforms’ success.

“I believe this government has commendable goals, but there is a noticeable gap in its engagement strategy. Nigerians need reassurance and clear communication to understand that there is light at the end of the tunnel. The government must encourage patience and demonstrate how these changes will benefit the populace,” he stated.

Kukah also acknowledged the persistent challenges of widespread poverty and urged the government to align its reform strategies with measures that directly address the needs of ordinary Nigerians.

The federal government’s proposed tax reforms continue to generate widespread debate, with proponents like Kukah viewing them as a vital step toward improved governance and equitable resource management.
