The Kenyan government has announced a visa-free entry policy for citizens of all African countries, a move aimed at fostering continental integration and cooperation.
This decision was disclosed in a statement issued by the country’s cabinet. The statement confirmed that the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirement will no longer apply to most African nations. However, Somalia and Libya are exempted from this policy due to security considerations.
Under the new arrangement, citizens from eligible African countries can enter and stay in Kenya without a visa for up to two months. For citizens of East African Community (EAC) member states, including Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi, the duration of stay is extended to six months, aligning with the region’s integration framework.
Although a specific timeline for implementation has not been provided, the government revealed plans to introduce an enhanced travel approval process. This system is expected to offer instant approvals, with a maximum processing time of 72 hours.
This development underscores Kenya’s commitment to promoting free movement and strengthening ties across the African continent.
