JUNE 2026 POLL: PDP Candidate, Oluyede Stirs Ekiti with Massive Rally, Pledges Better Governance

By Samuel Sunday

Oluyede made the call on Tuesday during a campaign rally held in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State where thousands of supporters gathered to welcome him and other party leaders.

The large turnout created an atmosphere of excitement as party loyalists and residents from Ikere and neighbouring communities turned out in large numbers to show their support.

Expressing surprise at the crowd that came out to receive him, Oluyede described the moment as a clear indication that the people of Ekiti are ready for change.

“I wasn’t expecting this turnout, but it is beautiful. It assures me that the people of Ekiti are ready for a good change,” he said, noting that over 20,000 supporters gathered for the rally.

The PDP candidate assured residents that his administration would prioritize key sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and wealth creation. According to him, the state has enormous potential that can only be realized through responsible leadership and proper management of public resources.

Oluyede also highlighted his strong connection with Ekiti State, despite living abroad for some time. He explained that he has remained actively involved in the development of the state and frequently returns home.

“Since 2022, I have traveled to Ekiti 37 times, investing in businesses and ensuring my family lives here,” he said.

While addressing supporters, Oluyede criticized the APC-led administration in the state, claiming that the state is worse off than it was a few years ago.

He alleged that the economy has declined, roads have deteriorated, unemployment has increased, and public services have weakened under the current government.

The PDP State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Olatunji Odeyemi, also addressed the crowd and reaffirmed the party’s support for Oluyede, describing him as the duly recognized candidate of the party.

He expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge victorious in the June 2026 governorship election.

Other party leaders at the rally, including former Senator Duro Faseyi and several political stakeholders, urged residents to mobilize voters across their wards and communities.

They called on supporters to remain united and committed as the party intensified its campaign efforts ahead of the election.
