The UN’s theme, “Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials,” highlights rights as daily freedoms—yet Nigeria sees worsening press freedom, with a 40% surge in attacks on journalists (2020-2024).
IPC Executive Director Lanre Arogundade stresses safeguarding press freedom is critical:
“We oppose actions limiting press freedom. Rights of journalists must be reality, not just words.”
The Hub calls on media stakeholders to prioritize protecting journalists.
