The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit, held for candidates affected by technical disruptions during the main exam.
In a statement issued Sunday morning, JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin revealed that 336,845 candidates were scheduled for the resit, with 21,082 absent.
Benjamin stated that while the situation was unfortunate, it also exposed rampant malpractice involving candidates, some school owners, and CBT centres. He emphasized that although some results were released despite evidence of misconduct, this does not endorse the actions of those involved.
Key highlights from JAMB’s announcement include:
Performance Analysis: Results fall within the historic performance range of the past 12 years (11% in 2013 to 34% in 2016).
Special Waivers: Absent candidates will be allowed to participate in the upcoming annual mop-up exam, including those who missed the main UTME.
Malpractice Crackdown:
CBT centres found guilty of altering pictures and biometrics will be blacklisted, with operators facing prosecution.
Individuals directly involved in illegal registrations will also be arrested and prosecuted.
Tutorial centres were criticized for fueling malpractice. Governments have been urged to regulate, license, and monitor them.
JAMB expressed gratitude to WAEC, ABU Zaria, TRCN, and NECO for adjusting their schedules to accommodate the resit. It also thanked Nigeria’s security agencies for helping track down malpractice offenders.
The board concluded by assuring the public of its continued commitment to credible and fair examinations.
