The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced the collation of results from various local government areas following the conduct of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday.
Officials of the commission, election observers, journalists, and other stakeholders gathered at INEC’s headquarters in Awka, the state capital, around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday to witness the beginning of the process.
The collation exercise started after a generally peaceful election across the South Eastern state, with reports indicating that voting and counting were conducted without major disruptions.
A total of sixteen political parties and their candidates took part in the contest, including the incumbent governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who is seeking re-election.
