In a move to ease preparations for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has approved the early payment of June salaries starting from Monday, June 2.
A statement signed by the governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, said the directive covers state and local government workers, Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) staff, and pensioners across Sokoto State.
The early salary payment, the third under the current administration, is aimed at helping workers make necessary purchases ahead of the religious festivities, including sacrificial animals.
Speaking from Saudi Arabia, where he is performing the Hajj pilgrimage, Governor Aliyu urged civil servants to show appreciation by remaining committed and dedicated to their duties.
He stated, “Since we assumed office, we have undertaken several initiatives to support our workers, including prompt payment of salaries, restoration of cash allocations to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), Sallah gifts, and the payment of backlogs of gratuities and pensions to our retirees.”
Governor Aliyu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to every part of the state, pledging more people-centered programmes in the months ahead.
