Ibrahim Chatta Opens Up on Losing First Child, Buried Her in Coca-Cola Crate Due to Poverty

Chatta made the revelation while speaking with his team on a movie set in a video shared on YouTube. He explained that his daughter died in a hospital in the Iddo area of Lagos after he was unable to raise money for her medical treatment.

“Malik is not my firstborn. My first child was a baby girl. I lost her because I couldn’t pay hospital bills,” he said emotionally.

The actor recounted how he moved from place to place in desperate search of help but got none.

“She was admitted at a hospital in Iddo, and I trekked all the way from Ijora Badia to Makoko, places where I once hawked puff-puff, but I couldn’t raise any money before she gave up. I buried her using an old wooden Coke crate,” he added.

Chatta, who rarely speaks about the painful episode, said he only recently shared the story with his family after returning from a trip to Dubai.

He said, “The day I went to Dubai, I bought a diamond anklet for my daughter Hawawu. Her mother got upset, asking why I didn’t get anything for her. I then told her about the daughter I lost and how I buried her. Everyone broke down in tears because I had never shared that story before.”

The actor’s revelation has touched many fans and followers, shedding light on the harsh realities many entertainers face before rising to fame.
