Erhriatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Her defection was announced in a letter read on the floor of the House during Thursday’s plenary session.
James Ibori, who served as Governor of Delta State from 1999 to 2007, is widely regarded as a significant political figure within the PDP in the state.
His daughter’s move to the APC marks a notable shift in Delta State’s political landscape.
Ms. Ibori-Suenu’s defection follows a wave of recent exits from minority parties in the House.
Earlier, four Labour Party lawmakers also defected to the APC, underscoring a growing trend within the minority caucus.
