Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo also known as Queen Mother has opened up about her distressing childhood and painful life experiences during an emotional interview with her colleague Biola Bayo on the talk show Talk to B.
Iyabo Ojo revealed she was a victim of rape five times and spoke about societal issues, including the prevalence of rape apologists.
“I was raped five times in my life,” Iyabo shared, revealing her zero-tolerance stance on sexual assault. “I discovered we have a lot of rape apologists. I don’t care who the person is; if that person is my son, I am going to come for him unapologetically.”
The actress also delved into her family history, revealing her strained relationship with her father, who disowned her when she insisted on marrying her late husband. She described her father’s struggles with alcoholism and drug abuse, which tragically led to his death at the age of 40.
“My dad did everything—alcohol and drugs—so it messed him up at a young age. He died at 40,” she said.
She shared that she grew up under the care of her grandmother and only met her mother when she was around seven years old. “I grew up with my grandmother, who is half Delta and half Igbo. I think I was seven before I knew my mother,” she recounted.
The actress also clarified her relationship with controversial musician Naira Marley, stating that she has never met him in her life, contrary to speculation.
