How I felt ashamed keeping virginity — Ex-beauty queen, Akinnifesi

In a heartfelt video titled The Walk In Purity on her YouTube channel, Akinnifesi opened up about her decision to remain a virgin, the shame she once felt about it, and how those experiences led her to launch an initiative called Sacred Vessels. The project aims to help women rediscover their self-worth and uphold moral values in today’s fast-paced world.

“I am starting this initiative because things are very different now,” she said. “It feels like many women no longer understand their value and morals. At 18, I made a covenant with God to keep myself. Some call it celibacy, but I have never done it before. I spent my twenties navigating mistakes, learning, and doing my best. Despite keeping this commitment, I carried a sense of shame for a long time. I couldn’t even share my story with friends without facing ridicule.”

Akinnifesi also revealed that rumors about her life became a source of strength and motivation to maintain her commitment.

“Negative stories were often spread about me, and I had to endure the weight of masking what I thought others would see as embarrassing. Looking back, I don’t know how I would have coped in today’s world. It was incredibly difficult, but I survived through the grace of God,” she shared.

Through Sacred Vessels, Akinnifesi hopes to encourage women to embrace their worth, uphold strong values, and overcome societal pressures, while inspiring others with her personal journey of resilience and faith.
