House of Reps Speaks on Binance’s Boss Bribery Allegation

The Nigerian House of Representatives has stated that it will not comment on the bribery allegations made by Binance’s Head of Financial Crime Compliance, Tigran Gambaryan, against some of its members.

In a statement on Saturday, the House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, described the claims as serious but noted that they were directed at individuals, not the institution. He added that since the allegations have taken a legal dimension, the law must take its course.

“The Honourable Members named have assured the House Leadership that they never engaged in such dealings. One of the members has already taken legal action to clear his name, while others have been encouraged to do the same,” the statement read.

Rotimi further stated that the matter now involves both the Nigerian and U.S. governments, with ongoing diplomatic discussions. He revealed that the Federal Government of Nigeria had rejected financial settlement offers from Binance, prioritizing national interest over external pressures.

“As the issue is now before a competent court and remains subject to diplomatic engagements, the House will refrain from further comments in line with parliamentary, judicial, and diplomatic principles,” he added.

The House urged the public to rely on verified facts and not be swayed by what it called “recycled claims aimed at discrediting Nigerian institutions.” It reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of democratic structures.

Meanwhile, some accused lawmakers have denied the bribery allegations and threatened legal action against Gambaryan.
