Hon. Bamikole Lauds Team’s Excellent Performance As Ise/Orun LG Wins 3Million Naira Award

By Olufunke Rotimi

Iseorun LG emerged second among 16 local government areas in Ekiti State, winning N3 million in a competitive assessment of compliance with gender-based violence initiatives.

At the event organised by a Non- Governmental Organization, Hon. Bamikole described the achievement as a product of collective dedication, strategic leadership, and unwavering commitment to justice, equity and the protection of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.

The council had promptly domesticated the gender initiative through bylaws and publicized the laws across the local government.

Hon. Bamikole noted that the administration had protected women and vulnerable groups even before the law was enacted, and gender-based maltreatment was never tolerated.

The Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Bunmi Famakinwa, praised the team for their achievement and advised victims of gender-based violence to report to the authorities instead of resorting to extreme measures.

The initiative aimed to sensitize women and girls to curb molestation and gender abuse, and the win reflects the council’s commitment to responsible governance and supporting the Ekiti State Government’s policies.
