The Director General, Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre, has disclosed that the anticipated local economic impact of this year’s edition of “Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari”, is over N50 million, benefitting hoteliers, transporters, artisans, food vendors, and local enterprises.
The D-G made the disclosure on Tuesday during the press conference held at GAD Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to unveil sponsors of the 2025 edition of the programme with the theme: “Hike and Dine in the Clouds” holding at the Mount of Clouds, Efon-Alaaye, on Easter Monday being 21st April, 2025.
Wale Ojo-Lanre who explained that the programme being organised by Discover Ekiti Tourism Club in conjunction with Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism, endorsed by Efon-Alaaye in Council and Efon Local Government which will take place on a symbolic day, Easter Monday, noted that it’s no mere coincidence saying Easter signifies renewal, rebirth, hope and a fresh beginning.
He remarked that it’s a time for reflection and rejuvenation. Adding that there’s no better way to honour the values than by journeying to the summit of Ekiti’s highest peak, the Mount of Clouds in Efon-Alaaye, where the earth kisses the sky, and nature embraces the soul.
In his word, “walking through the cool mist and lush greenery of the Mount of Clouds on Easter Monday will not only invigirate the body but also uplift the spirit. It’s an invitation to rise above, to connect, and to behold the beauty and potential of our beloved Ekiti “, said Ojo-Lanre.
The Tourism Ambassador, while acknowledging the vision and commitment of the State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji whose focused drive to unlock the tourism potential of the Efon -Ipole – Ikogosi – Ilawe corridor gave birth to the initiative, pointed out that his belief in tourism as a tool for community transformation continues to inspire the Bureau’s work.
Stressing that the event is the result of a dynamic partnership between the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, the Discover Ekiti Tourism Club and the people of Efon-Alaaye under the leadership of His Royal Majesty Majesty, Oba Emmanuel Adesanya Aladejare , Agunsoye 11, Obalufon Alayemore, the Alaaye of Efon Kingdom.
The D-G said Efon-Alaaye is ready to host the nation with over 2000 invited Hikers expected.
Influencers, Hollywood stars and musical legends of Ekiti oringin who will grace the event include; Goroso Ekiti, AY Nigeria, Omo Eli, Ekiti Boys, Eyelobyrin, Funmi Elemure, Veteran Ogidi Olu Alaro, and Bola Oselusi.
Sponsors and supporters unveiled for generously backing the initiative as highlighted by Wale Ojo-Lanre and Prince Rotimi Awelewa are; Adron Homes, Voki, Sterling Bank, Fure Bio Water, Rites Foods, Guinea Wood Factory, Dan Pharmacy among others.
Earlier, the team lead for the group Mr Perculiar Ekiran, in his opening remark, stated that transportation for registered participants would begin at 6:00 am from Fajuyi Pavilion, Ado Ekiti, with the actual hiking set to commence at 7:00am in Efon Alaaye.
