
Management and students of Hensard University, the first private university in Bayelsa State, came together on Monday to celebrate the birthday of their Vice Chancellor, Dr Dileep Kumar, a globally recognised expert in Strategy and Organisational Behaviour.
The celebration was an opportunity to recognise Dr. Kumar’s significant contributions to the university and his commitment to developing future leaders.
Dr Kumar, who became Hensard University’s first Vice-Chancellor two years ago, thanked the students and management for the heartfelt gesture.
Students and staff celebrated the occasion with songs and well wishes, creating a festive atmosphere on the Toru Orua Campus.
Professor Kumar brings over two decades of international experience to Hensard University, having taught Strategic Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Consumer Behaviour, Behavioural Sciences, Organisational Behaviour, Research Methods, Research, and Business Consultancy Strategies in institutions all over the world.
His impressive international career includes teaching and research positions in the Netherlands, Belgium, Georgia, South Africa, the UAE, Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, Ukraine, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, Chairman of the Henry Seriake Foundation, which founded Hensard University, expressed his delight at having Professor Kumar in charge.
“Hensard University finds in Professor Kumar an internationally renowned scholar, teacher, researcher, and mentor, whose works align with Hensard’s distinctive approaches to higher education,” he wrote in his birthday greetings.
Senator Dickson emphasised the Vice Chancellor’s commitment to the university’s mission. “The thrust of his research, his precocious publications, patents, global experience, and intellectual status, match the benchmarks that Hensard University has set for producing global leaders whose relevance stems from their commitment to improving communities and society as a whole.”
Before joining Hensard University, Professor Kumar was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences at Nile University in Abuja.
His impressive academic record includes eight books, three monographs, over 170 national and international high-impact publications (over 50 indexed in ISI and Scopus), four patents, and 17 copyrights.
Professor Kumar’s academic background is equally impressive. He earned a first-class bachelor’s degree in science from Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala, India.
He also has a Doctorate in Business Administration from International University Georgia, a PhD in Business Management from the University of Kottayam in Kerala, a M Phil. in Labour Studies from Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai, a Master’s in Human Resources, and another in Management and General Management from Sree Sankaracharya University in Kerala, as well as a P.G.D.B.A. (MBA equivalent) in Business Management from Alagappa University in Karaikudi.
He also has diplomas in labour law, hospital administration, human resource management, computer application, and multidata software solutions, which add to his expertise.
Professor Kumar reiterated his commitment to the university’s mission while speaking to students and staff during the celebration.

“Hensard would be at the forefront of exploring new frontiers of knowledge in the search for solutions to humanity’s challenges,” he said.
He also emphasised the university’s resources and dedication: “Our research centres, institutes, international linkages, dual certifications, and the dedication of my colleagues are available as we commit to serving our students and communities with the Hensard advantage.”
The birthday celebration was not only an expression of gratitude for Professor Kumar’s leadership, but also a renewed commitment by the entire Hensard University community to its mission of fostering academic excellence and producing global leaders.
The event highlighted the university’s commitment to providing students with a transformative education that prepares them to face society’s challenges.
