The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has refuted claims that he criticized his Plateau State counterpart, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, regarding the ongoing issues within Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
There had been reports suggesting that during a virtual meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Adeleke allegedly reprimanded Governor Mutfwang for failing to safeguard the interests of the North Central Zone within the party.
In a statement released on Thursday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke clarified that he never criticized or accused Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of any wrongdoing or failure to protect the interests of the North Central within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Governor dismissed the circulating media reports, explaining that he was en route to Akure in his role as Chairman of the PDP Governorship Campaign Council for Ondo State when the meeting took place. He added that poor network connectivity hindered his participation in the virtual session.
According to the Governor , his participation at the virtual meeting was largely disrupted by the connection crisis, affirming he is fully in support of resolutions reached at the meeting.
“As a loyal party man, I stand with the PDP Constitution as I have reiterated since the beginning of the crisis and I know this position was shared by my brother , the Plateau state Governor and many others.
“So I urged the public to discountenance the media reports. My brother, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, was not pressured by me to back the PDP Constitution. He is a strong party man with deep loyalty to the PDP Constitution “, Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying in a statement issued on Thursday.
