Tragedy struck in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State as a young lady, identified as Augustina Mowari, reportedly stabbed her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, to death following a heated argument over alleged infidelity.
According to sources close to the couple, the two had been living together in a one-room apartment for several years. However, their relationship reportedly became strained due to accusations of cheating and a breakdown in trust.
“They had been having issues for some time,” a source said. “The lady accused Michael of seeing another woman, and this led to a serious argument between them. In the heat of the fight, Augustina allegedly stabbed him in the leg with a pair of scissors.”
The victim was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital where he received treatment and was discharged. However, his condition worsened at home, with his leg swelling severely. He was taken back to the hospital on Sunday night but reportedly died despite efforts by doctors to save him.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the suspect had been arrested and was currently in custody.
“There was an argument between the two, which led to the suspect stabbing the victim with scissors. The victim later died in the hospital. The suspect is in our custody, and the case will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation,” Ayanlade stated.
