The Gateway Tertiary Institutions Games (GATIG) Council, at its meeting on Friday, 25th of October, at Sagamu International Stadium, inaugurated the GATIG Staff Games Committee.
GATIG Council Chairman, Mr. Olalekan Kehinde Adeyemi, while addressing the committee members headed by Mr. Lucky Agbor from the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, stated that “What’s good for the geese is also good for the gander.”
He affirmed that “sport is good for both the students and staff. We have had a successful 6th edition of Tertiary Institutions Games for the students in Ogun State; we should also be thinking of having the 1st edition of Gateway Tertiary Institutions Staff Games as well.”
Adeyemi, speaking further, said, “It would be a time when members of staff in our various tertiary institutions in Ogun State would come together to engage in sporting activities of their choice in both the male and female categories.”
In his own remarks, the chairman of the newly inaugurated GATIG Staff Games Committee, Mr. Agbor, promised on behalf of the other members of the committee to do the needful, stressing that the plan will start soonest to decide on when, how and where the first edition will be held.
