
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Pro-Chancellor, Governing Council members, and Principal Officers for the newly established Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.
In a statement on Tuesday, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that Senator Binta Masi Garba will serve as Pro-Chancellor and Chairperson of the Governing Council. A former senator and House of Representatives member, Garba brings extensive experience in politics, business, and administration.
Other members of the Governing Council include Prof. Joseph Olurotimi Sanya, Mr. Efe Emefienin Emmanuel, Dr. Joyce Ogunyemi, and Alhaji Dahiru Abdullahi Ruma.
The newly appointed Principal Officers are:
Vice-Chancellor: Prof. James Olugbenga Aribisala
Registrar: Mr. Oluwole Olalere Dada
Bursar: Mrs. Adeniyi Rachael Ajayi
Librarian: Prof. Isaac Oluwadare Busayo
President Tinubu acknowledged Senate Leader Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele’s role in championing the university’s establishment. He urged the appointees to utilize their expertise to position the institution as a hub for academic excellence, research, and innovation.
The university is set to admit its first batch of students in September 2025.
