
Nottingham Forest delivered a stunning 3-2 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, climbing to fifth place in the English Premier League table.
The visitors struck early in the 2nd minute when Nikola Milenkovic headed in a precise corner, finding space in the box to place the ball into the top corner and give Forest a 1-0 lead.
United almost equalized in the 18th minute when Alejandro Garnacho fired a low shot toward the bottom corner, but Forest’s goalkeeper made a superb diving save to deny him. Moments later, Rasmus Højlund capitalized on a rebound, firing a clinical shot into the net to level the score at 1-1.
Forest came close to regaining the lead in the 28th minute when Jota Silva’s header struck the right post. Just before halftime, Bruno Fernandes nearly put United ahead with a brilliant free-kick, but his effort rattled the crossbar.
After the break, Nottingham Forest restored their lead in the 47th minute. Morgan Gibbs-White latched onto a pass and struck a tame shot, but a goalkeeping error allowed the ball to trickle into the net, making it 2-1.
Chris Wood extended Forest’s advantage in the 54th minute, perfectly connecting with a cross to head the ball off the right post and into the net for a 3-1 lead.
Manchester United responded in the 61st minute, with Amad Diallo setting up Bruno Fernandes on the edge of the box. Fernandes unleashed a precise strike into the bottom left corner, narrowing the deficit to 3-2.
United pushed for an equalizer, and Lisandro Martinez came close in injury time, but his shot from a rebound flew just over the crossbar. Nottingham Forest held firm to claim a thrilling and hard-fought victory.
The win marks a significant boost for Forest, while United faces questions about their defensive vulnerabilities.
