As Nigerians are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the Presidential election of Saturday, 25th February, 2023, the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), in the last year’s governorship election in Ekiti State, Engr. Kemi Elebute-Halle, popularly referred to as Erelu Bam-Bam has said what Nigeria and Nigerians need at this moment is a progressive leader.

The multi award winning woman, stated this while addressing journalists on the state of the nation at her residence in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.

“What we should be praying for in Nigeria is that God should give us a good person. A good individual. We just need God to choose a good leader for us. A leader that is passionate about Nigeria and Nigerians. God should give us a person that is like a stream and not like a lake because if you see most of the leaders that we have right now, they are lakes”.

Elebute who has always been passionate about the welfare of the people around her, maintained that most of the people ruling the nation now acquired what they don’t  need. Noting that the unfortunate aspect of the matter was that some of them allow it exposed to people.

According to her, “they will rather leave it there; money will rot in bags, in sacks, while some people are living in penury. Oh! Why do I say some people, their neighbours are living in penury, they are living oppressed life. They are supposed to be progressive leaders, but they are oppressive leaders” Said Elebute.

She opined that all that Nigerians are currently going through would soon be over. “We are all praying for a better Nigeria where Nigerians can have robust economy, where Nigerians can sleep with their two eyes closed, where we can value education and a Nigeria that will be loved by Nigerians. She therefore urged Nigerians amidst the current national woes to be hopeful.

“I don’t know how I can describe our economy right now. Everybody will ask. Even our children that can barely talk now know the hardship that is going on right now and each time I look, I say, how did we get here? When we have a failed economy mixed with scarcity of naira and fuel”.

The Director-General for the Presidential Campaign Council of Action Democratic Party in the just concluded presidential election in Nigeria, said she’s still very much in politics and called on Ekiti people to rally round the current Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Mr. Abayomi Oyebanji for him to succeed in leading the state.
