FG Trains Federal Information, Public Relations Officers On Effective Communication, Information Management For Optimum Service Delivery

The Zonal Director who was the host of the just concluded 3-day training organised in the six geopolitical zones of the country, gave the charge in his address while welcoming the participants at NTA Ibadan where that of the Southwest held from Monday, 24th to Wednesday, 26th February, 2025.

The Federal Government through the training unit of the NIgerian Television Authority, TV College Jos, has initiated a training for Information and Public Relations Officers in the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation with the theme, “Effective Communication Skills, Information Management and Public Relations”, to enhance the skills of Information and Public Relations Officers in its service. 

The training which provided the participants a unique platform for interactive session, practical demonstration of skills that could be needed in their various call of responsibilities to enlighten the general public on Government’s policies and programmes at the grassroot level, had the following highlights; Media Relations and Networking. Developing Effective Communication and Strategies,Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication, Information Management, amongst others.

The Key Speakers and Resource Persons, Dr Chinelo Ekpe, Mrs Banke Ozewe and Mr Emma Okondu, all spoke to their papers on Information Management, Significance of Media Relations and Networking as well as Communication Variants tailoring the participants towards improved performance.

At the end of the exercise, the participants, who were drawn from the Federal Information Centres in the six states of southwest Nigeria, expressed their deep appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, FMINO, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, for the training, acknowledging the need to rejuvenate outstations of the Ministry.

The trainees eulogized the management of NTA Television College, Jos, for the superlative Workshop, soliciting more training for Officers.

In his closing remark, the Deputy Director, Production Services, NTA Ibadan Network Centre, Mr Rinmade Joshua, appreciated the initiative and the participants.

He theirefore encouraged the participants to eschew the philosophy of “train the trainer”, where all Information and Public Relations Officers, grasp the skills of effective Information management for better performance and service delivery to the public.
