
The Federal Government has released ₦5.12 billion to settle pension arrears for 90,689 retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) announced the payment on Monday, saying it covered pensioners across the four pension departments.
In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, PTAD said the disbursement aligns with government’s pledge to clear outstanding pension liabilities as funds become available.
“PTAD has finalised the disbursement of ₦5,119,328,000 to 90,689 pensioners across the four pension departments, reaffirming our continued dedication to pensioners’ welfare,” the agency said.
According to the breakdown, 8,626 pensioners under the Customs, Immigration, and Prisons Pension Department received ₦276,032,000, while 9,681 retirees in the Police Pension Department got ₦619,584,000.
Similarly, 12,773 retirees in the Civil Service Pension Department were paid ₦408,736,000, and 59,609 retirees under the Parastatals Pension Department received ₦3,814,976,000.
PTAD said the payment reflects the Tinubu administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” to ensure pensioners get their entitlements promptly.
