FG Declares March 19, 20 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr

The announcement was conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.

Speaking on behalf of the government, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Muslims across the country on the successful completion of the month-long fast.

He encouraged the faithful to continue upholding the values of love, peace, sacrifice, generosity and tolerance which were emphasised during Ramadan.

Beyond the Muslim community, the minister urged Nigerians to use the festive period to offer prayers for national unity, stability and economic progress.

While wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful celebration, he also advised citizens to celebrate in moderation and remember the less privileged through acts of kindness.

The statement reaffirmed the government’s resolve to promote harmony, unity and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths and backgrounds in the country.
