FG Approves Dual Certification in Colleges of Education

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced the development via his official X handle, stating it is part of broader reforms to enhance graduate employability and strengthen the nation’s higher education system.

The dual mandate was enabled by the revised FCOE Act, signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023.

The Ministry has begun working with the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and JAMB to ensure smooth implementation.

Colleges are undergoing curriculum updates, staff training, and administrative restructuring to support the transition.

Dr. Alausa emphasized that the move aims to modernize teacher education, raise the profession’s status, and better equip students for both local and international opportunities.
