Former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica Aber, has been found dead in her Alexandria home, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
The Alexandria Police Department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, while the Virginia Chief Medical Examiner is yet to determine the cause.
Aber, 43, recently resigned from her position after nearly three years of service. She was appointed by President Joe Biden in 2021 and stepped down in January following the inauguration of President Donald Trump for his second term.
Reacting to the tragic news, her successor, Erik Siebert, expressed deep sorrow. “We are heartbroken beyond words to learn of the passing of our friend and former colleague, U.S. Attorney Jessica Aber,” he said.
Authorities have not released further details as investigations continue.
