A pharmacist, Abiodun Ajibade, has issued a strong warning against self-medication, stressing that every drug can become poisonous if it is not properly administered. Ajibade explained that medicines are powerful substances designed to alter body functions and can become harmful or even fatal when taken without professional guidance.

Speaking of the dangers of drug misuse, Ajibade noted that medications are meant to correct body functions when they are not working properly, he said.
cautioned that when people take drugs without understanding how they work or the appropriate dosage, they risk causing serious damage to their bodies.
According to him, the statement “every drug is a poison” simply highlights the potential danger attached to all medications. He explained that every drug has the ability to alter the body system, and when it goes beyond the safe or allowable limit, it can become harmful to the person taking it.
Ajibade emphasized that pharmacists are specially trained to understand how medications interact with the human body, including the correct dosage and duration for safe use. He added that this professional knowledge is necessary to ensure that drugs provide treatment rather than harm.
He therefore advised the public to always consult a pharmacist before taking any medication. According to him, seeking professional advice is the safest way to prevent complications associated with drug misuse and self-prescription.
Speaking further during the 2026 Genspark program, organised by glean forte Academy Ajibade expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the event, noting that participants gained valuable insights that could improve their businesses and professional activities.
He added that the feedback received from participants indicated that the programme provided useful knowledge and practical ideas that would help attendees manage and grow their enterprises more effectively.
