Environment Commissioner Condemns Assault On Environmental Health Officers In Ekiti

The commissioner expressed her displeasure during the September edition of the state’s Environmental Sanitation Exercise in Ado-Ekiti, stressing the importance of respecting environmental regulations and supporting the efforts of environmental health officers in creating a cleaner and healthier Ekiti State.

“The protection of our environment is a collective responsibility, and we must all play our part in maintaining a clean and safe Ekiti State,” Aluko-Ajisafe stated.

She singled out traders at Okesha Market who were caught trading during the exercise, in violation of the state’s sanitation rules, stating that violators would face severe consequences,while emphasized the importance of adhering to sanitation regulations.

The commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to a clean and safe environment for all citizens, noting that acts of disobedience would not be tolerated.

The Director of Environmental Health and Sanitation, Mr. Tunde Balogun, echoed the Commissioner’s sentiments, urging the public to refrain from assaulting environmental health officers during their official duties. 

He highlighted the crucial role these officers play in maintaining public health and environmental standards.

Several violators were arrested during the exercise and were prosecuted.
