The minors detained for their involvement in the #EndBadGovernance protests have been released. Reports indicate that they were freed on Tuesday morning and are being taken to Aso Rock to be reunited with their families.
The release of the minors followed an order issued by President Bola Tinubu on Monday. Tinubu directed the Attorney General of the Federation to take all necessary steps to ensure the immediate release of minors detained by the Nigeria Police in relation to recent protests.
The President also assigned the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs the responsibility of facilitating the safe reunion of these minors with their families.
Also, the Inspector-General of Police ordered a probe of the alleged maltreatment of the minors in detention.
