
The Vice-Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) Prof. Babatola Ayodele has felicitated Prof. James Olugbenga Aribisala on his recent appointment as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Federal University of Technology & Environmental Sciences, Ìyìn Ekiti by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).
Professor Ayodele noted that the choice of Aribisala, a Professor of Civil Engineering at Ekiti State University, is thoughtful and a welcome development. According to him, “Prof. Aribisala is a thoroughbred Professional, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a brilliant Professor of Water Resources & Environmental Engineering, is vast and well connected with both gown and town having served as consultant to both local and international organisations including DFID, AfDB, World Bank, as well as Ekiti State Government, where he served as the coordinating consultant in all road projects between 2007-2010.
The Vice Chancellor added that Professor Aribisala “is well prepared for the task of building a 21st century university that will birth students with brilliant expertise that would contribute excellently to research and community development”.
The Vice Chancellor and the entire EKSU community wish Professor Aribisala well as he steers the ship of the newly established University.
The new Vice Chancellor was trained at both Universities of Ilorin and Benin. He joined the services of Ekiti State University in 1987 and was elevated to the rank of Professor in 2007. He had held various positions such as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, member of the university Governing Council, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dean of the then School of Postgraduate Studies, among others. He has also served as external examiner to various professional and academic bodies.
