Ekiti State Judiciary Announces 2026 Annual Vacation

Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Hon. Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, has announced.

The notice, issued pursuant to Order 45 Rule 4(d) of the Ekiti State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2020, stated that the annual vacation is part of the judiciary’s calendar to enable judges to rest and adequately prepare for the new legal year.

Despite the vacation, the Chief Judge clarified that all courts in the state will remain open throughout the period.

In line with the rules, the courts will continue to hear criminal matters and urgent civil applications during the vacation. Civil cases may also be entertained, but only with the express permission of the vacation judge and upon a joint application by counsel to both parties.

“All courts in the state will remain open and operational throughout the vacation period,” the statement affirmed.

Justice Ogunmoye further announced that the 2026/2027 Legal Year will formally commence on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Members of the public, litigants, and legal practitioners are advised to take note of the arrangement and to file all urgent applications accordingly during the vacation period.
