Ekiti Speaker, Aribasoye Fetes Old Secondary School Mates As He Bags Award Of Excellence

Aribasoye alongside other recipients were given the award by the 1993 set of his alma mater, Fiyinfolu Odundun Comprehensive High School, Ayedun Ekiti.

This was part of events at the second biennial reunion and award ceremony of the set tagged: ‘Celebrating the Past, Appreciating the Present and Aiming at a Brighter Future’  held at the speaker’s lodge in Ado Ekiti.

Underscoring  30 years of remarkable values and accomplishments of the celebrating set, Rt. Hon. Aribasoye in his address thanked God for sparing the lives of set members and for giving them the opportunity to meet again.

“Though the journey was terrible and hectic,  at the end of the tunnel there was light, the journey has been marked by countless experiences, challenges and triumphs. The memories of our secondary school days remain etched in our hearts as we celebrate this momentous occasion of second biennial reunion.” Aribasoye noted with nostalgia. 

He congratulated the members for God’s benevolence in their lives adding that counting lives not loses was a function of the mercy of God. 

The Speaker also expressed confidence that members will sustain and increase their passion for the the development of the alma mater which would translate to positive investments in the lives of the upcoming generation. 

 Apart from the award aspect, the event also featured election and swearing in of the new executive of the union that would pilot its affairs for the next two years. 

Mrs Yemi Omotosho was elected senior prefect, Toyin Adewumi emerged Vice Senior Prefect, Yakubu Shehu Tijani as Public Relations Officer, Toyin ipinlaye as Treasurer while Mr Ayo Dada became the Secretary. 

After the oath of allegiance and oath of office, which was administered by Rt. Hon. Aribasoye, the new Senior Prefect, Mrs Yemi Omotoso, in her acceptance speech promised to run an open administration and to take the union to an enviable feat. 

Some outstanding teachers were also honoured with award of  merit and excellence for their active services at Fiyinfolu Odundun Comprehensive High School , among them were the current Tutor General in Ekiti State, Mr Victor oladiran Amele, who was the Government teacher, Mr Solomon Rotifa, English language teacher, Elder Olukayode Ajayi, Yoruba language teacher and Chief Olutayo Oguntimehin, Biology teacher among others. 

In their remarks the award recipients  described 1993 set of Fiyinfolu Odundun Comprehensive High School, Ayedun Ekiti as  trailblazers and role models,  epitomising love and unity.

They promised to do more in ensuring  restoration of the glory of their Alma mater noting that the level of moral decadence, cyber crime and other vices among the current day youths required attention.
