Ekiti SDP State Working Committee Members Resign, Defect To PDP

By Felix Ojo

The Social Democratic Party in Ekiti State seems to have suffered a great setback as the principal officers of the party resigned their positions in the party.

The State Youth Speaker and the State Public Relations Officer of the party in Ekiti, Oluremi Ikumapayi and Gani Salau tendered their resignation letters respectively to the Sytate Chairman today at his residence in Ado Ekiti, the State capital.

Ikumapayi, in his letter thanked the chairman, Dr Dele Ekunola for giving him the opportunity to operate in the party.

The letter read “I want to thank you most sincerely for the opportunity given to me to contribute my own quota towards the development of the party in the state”.

In his own resignation letter, Salau thanked the chairman for the opportunity given to him to operate as the image maker of the party.

“I want to appreciate you sir for giving me the opportunity to operate under the platform of the party. I am most grateful for this opportunity you have accorded me sir”.

The state chairman of the party, Dr Dele Ekunola was not happy with the resignation of the Youth Speaker and the Public Relations Officer from the State Working Committee of the party. He described them as indispensable right-hand people who should not leave the party at this time.

Speaking on the next line of action,  Salau said “political party is a platform for everybody to air his or her view and the moment you are through, you leave for another. The former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni came to SDP and left so why are we there again? So we have moved with the trend which is the PDP and there is no going back”.
