Ekiti PTA Leadership Hails Gov. Oyebanji’s Free Education Policy … urges members to ensure compliance

Statement by the leadership of the Association says, “NAPTAN” in the State strongly supports all that the government is doing to ensure that no school Head -Teacher or Principal in any of the State public schools collect or make any pupil/ student in the schools to pay any levy.

According to the statement, “it has been part of the Association’s readiness to be more responsible by making sure that parents take good care and look after their children/wards in various schools and possibly make reports to the State PTA of any Head-Teacher or Principal of any public school in the State that wouldn’t allow their children/wards attend school lessons for failure to pay any illegal levy.

“The PTA “NAPTAN” members in Ekiti State is in total agreement once again with  the recent statement and warning by the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr (Mrs) Bimpe Aderiye, that no school Head -Teacher or Principal should collect any levy from their pupils or students at any period of the term as the State government is making frantic efforts to see that the “FREE EDUCATION POLICY SYSTEM” is well implemented as part of the government’s priorities to provide qualitative education for school age children in the State to enable parents send their children/wards to school.

Also, it has been part of the resolutions of the Association for members to visit any of the schools to see the level of the teachers’ compliance to the policy in place and ask questions from the schools’ managements about the activities going on in their schools.

As contained in the statement, the PTA executives at the local government level are making efforts to reach out to many of the State public schools to encourage the teachers to continue with the good jobs they have been doing.

“With the announcement and release of the 2024/25 School calendar year, parents have promised to be more responsible by providing all the necessary study  items for their children and as well adhere as much as possible by making sure that the children attend school regularly and be more disciplined in all ramifications as expected.
